TVedia mods

Disclaimer: No support or warranty will be given to mods listed below. 8 Dimensions International LLC shall not be held responsible for any legal matters that may arise. By visiting this section and/or download the mods listed below, you agree to this disclaimer.

Mods are installed by uncompressing the content into Skins\Mods folder under TVedia's installation point. The mod is automatically enabled once installed, and TVedia is restarted. If the packaged files don't contain a top level folder, you need to create a folder for the files under Skins\Mods and uncompress files into the folder. The folder name doesn't matter, as long as it's a new folder.

To submit a mod for hosting, please email the mod files to support@8dim.com with brief description and author's name and contact information that you intend to show on this page. The mod will be code reviewed, which may result in code modification requests.

Permanent File Deletion mod by Ted Thurbon

This mod enables permanent file deletion for local files under the following menu items:

  • Music
  • Pictures
  • Music Videos
  • Movies & Videos
and as always it is available under the Browse menu.

File deletion is the same as always except that when you select delete on a local file you will be offered the option to permanently delete it. If you answer no to the permanent delete option you will then be offered the option to just delete the database entry. If the file is not local it will just offer you the option to delete the database entry. Files that have their "read only" attribute set can not be permanently deleted.

Online Media (updated September 8, 2006) mod by gazugafan

Consolidates the "online" menu items into one "Online Media" submenu. An optional mod is included that renames a few strings to something more friendly ("Live365" becomes "Internet Radio" for example).

LCD/VFD Support (via LCDSmartie) mod by gazugafan

This mod allows TVedia4 to interface with the free program "LCDSmartie" and display various information on your LCD or VFD display.

Audio Visualizations mod by gazugafan

This mod adds a visualizations icon to the left-side-menu on most pages dealing with music. When selected, TVedia launches an external application (such as Winamp) that displays a visualization based on the audio output.

Automatic Ripping mod by gazugafan

With this mod installed, TVedia will give you the option to rip a CD or DVD when inserted (using an external ripping program of your choice).

RandomPlay mod by cncb

This mod allows you to select one or more music genres and do a shuffled play of all the tracks in the selected genre(s). See http://my.opera.com/cncb/ for more information

Sleep Timer mod by cncb

This mod is a sleep timer that will allow you to choose an amount of time and the power "action" to be performed (quit, shutdown, etc.).  It also allows for a "time-of-day" display on all screens when the OSD is displayed. See http://my.opera.com/cncb/ for more information

News Reader mod by Fidoboy

You can configure the rss source in the settings page.

Weather mod by Fidoboy

It displays the current weather in your city using a new entry in TVedia's main menu. There is also a new entry in the settings menu where you can configure this mod.

Ant Movies mod by Fidoboy

This mod allows to browse your Ant Movies catalog to locate the media code and then insert the right DVD or CD into the drive. I'm not capable for the moment to read the ant movie catalog in native format (as i wanted to) so, you need to export the catalog to XML format using Ant Movies before using this mod. This task is only one click in Ant Movies and it exports the catalog and also all pictures in a folder that you can specify.

Ant Movies also has a check box to indicate what movies are already watched or not, so i've used this value to show it in my mod and also filter the catalog to only display not watched movies. Before using the mod into TVedia you must also indicate the catalog file name and also the path, you can do this into the settings page of TVedia, in Movie Catalog section.
