How to playback Matroska (MKV) files?
Matroska is an open container format. A MKV splitter is needed to extract audio and video content from the ccontainer. However, it's not a new media format, so it doesn't require new decoders. There are two popular MKV splitters available. One is Gabest's Matroska Splitter, and the other is Haali Media Splitter. Note, if you install Gabest's Matroska Splitter, after uncompressing the MatroskaSplitter.ax file, run regsvr32 on the file under Release Unicode folder to register the filter.
