TVedia 4.2 is available for download. Vista support is added in this release with a number of bug fixes. Change log is listed below:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a sliding text bug
  • After playing a movie set, playing a single music or video goes back to single playback mode automatically
  • Pressing REW after entering a number was broken
  • Slideshow screensaver should still allow user to control music

  • Use a more intelligent method to figure out if two music tracks with the same album name belong indeed to the same album. Tracks in the same folder are assumed to belong to the same album.

TVedia 4.1 final is available for download. This release contains a number of bug fixes and feature upgrades. Please refer to TVedia news pages and user guide for change logs. You must upgrade to continue to receive online services provided by AMG. Previous TVedia releases will not be able to access AMG CD/DVD and music acoustic fingerprint recognition services after December 15, 2006.

TVedia 4.1 beta 2 is available for download. Change log is listed below:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that user cannot use REW (<<) button to erase characters in an editbox when a slideshow is playing.
  • Fixed an image and script loading order bug that breaks mods
  • Fixed a Google video missing duration bug

New Feature/Changes

  • Added warning to block importing from non local fixed drives. Importing from a UNC path on a network share is still supported.
  • Added file change monitoring on network shares (imported with UNC path).
  • Improved startup speed by putting all images into a single resource dll (images.dll). Flat file images loading takes precedence if present.
  • Allow user to enter MPAA rating during media import.
  • Set TVedia main window to foreground to get focus when getting out of suspended/hibernation modes.
  • Release sound device when switching to another program.
  • Added a DisableSoundEffect registry key (DWORD) to turn off all sound effects.
  • Added Firefly remote control support.

Bug Fixes

  • Streamzap remote control is "released" when TVedia switches to another program.
  • Alt-PageUp and Alt-PageDown map to volume up/down now.
  • FF/REW time inconsistency at times was fixed.
  • When entering text, REW erases last character entered, instead of rewinding the current media

  • Suppressed error message about inserting PCM Swapper when playing back audio files with Xcard.
  • Fixed a bug that software decoding cannot be chosen when playing back using Xcard (it always went back to use hardware decoding).

  • Fixed a bug where HTTP streaming from UPnP server is broken up randomly during playback.
  • Fixed a bug where TVediaMediaScan.exe has high CPU consumption for a long period of time when a directory name is changed and caught by TVediaFileChangeMonitor.

New Feature/Changes

  • Monitor’s energy saving option is turned off when TVedia is running fullscreen.
  • Browsing folder with two albums now sorts tracks by album then track number.
  • Rating tags on WMA files are now imported.
  • Both date and time are imported for EXIF tags now.
  • SubTitle tags is concatenated to Title for DVR-MS files.
  • Removed DivX.com from online video
  • Added an option in the installer to remove all user options in the registry.
  • Picture’s path/url is now logged during slideshow to help locating a rare slideshow crash bug.
  • Media importer now handles movie sets (e.g. Movie Name CD1.avi and Movie Name CD2.avi) automatically. The number pattern is specified in MovieSetNumberPatterns.xml file. The pattern is always at the end of the file. A m3u file for the movie set is created automatically. When searching for movie, only the movie set file is shown; individual files are not show. When playing the movie set, the m3u playlist is loaded, and files play in sequence. The files are still listed when you browse them under the Browse Files menu.
  • When importing albums with the same but from different artists, the artist name is appended to the album name automatically to disambiguate between the albums. For files that have already been imported, you need to remove all the files belong to those albums, restart TVedia, and reimport the files to see the changes.
  • Added bookmark function to music videos.
  • TVediaFileChangeMonitor now runs at low priority.

Changes for Third Party Development

  • Added a noscrollfocus attribute to disable list/thumbnail scroll bar.
  • Fixed an installer bug that causes TVedia Automation server not being able to be instantiated from managed executables.
  • Added SetGroupingProperties on list and thumbnail controls, so grouping can be specified on web service results, and more than one grouping can be specified for UPnP search based results.
  • Fixed a bug so new object can be added to database from script.
  • Fixed a bug so properties of an object can be changed, or added.
  • Image loading in mods now look up the default theme first for images, so image file don’t need to be copied over to mod folder.
  • Script loading in mods now looks up default theme first, then the mod’s root, then the current page’s dir, so common script files can easily be shared.
  • The inclusion of util.js is now moved to classes.style, so it can be modified at a single place (e.g. in a new theme) to change certain behaviors coded in the util.js file.
  • Sorting by number is enabled. All numbers are smaller than regular text.
  • Media importer now calls a script ImportScript.js to perform customized processing during importing.
  • Added a searchfromstart attribute to List and Thumbnail controls to allow substring search to match from the beginning of the title, instead of anywhere in the title.

We are pleased to release the 5th beta build of TVedia 4.0. In this beta release, in addition to bug fixes and small feature changes, we added an online video feature that can be used to access videos from YouTube, Google Video, Metacafe, DivX.com and Grouper. TVedia now brings online video content right to your media center.

We are pleased to release the 4th beta build of TVedia 4.0. In this beta release, in addition to bug fixes and further improvements to media scan, we added a number of web service mash-up features, including Flickr, Live365, Last.fm, and Amazon.com. TVedia now takes advantages of the Web 2.0 web services to add a richer and connected experience to the media center application.

TVedia 4.0, a new milestone for Media Center PC and Home Theater PC (HTPC) enthusiasts is scheduled to officially launch in March 2006. A beta version of the downloadable software will be available for previewing in Feburary 2006. The completely revamped product now targets a wide range of PC users with minimal system requirements.
